The following questions and answers provide you with important information about the merger between NBT Bank and Salisbury Bank, including products and services affected and how you can prepare for a smooth transition.

As our customer, you will be able to conduct business from more than 150 locations throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. You will also have access to a network of nearly 200 ATMs and 24/7 digital banking tools.
The merger of Salisbury Bank and NBT Bank is a formal process that is subject to federal and state regulatory approval. We expect to gain merger approval this summer and will provide additional details in a follow-up communication.
We understand this is a lot to review, but please know changes to your account(s) are outlined in our Account Information Guide and we encourage you to read through the important information provided in this guide. We are available to assist with any questions. Contact our NBT Customer Contact Center at 1.800.NBT.BANK (628.2265) weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (EST) or Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. You can also reach out to your Salisbury branch office, or your Salisbury Customer Support Team, at 1.860.596.2444 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Many of the bankers you know and trust will continue to serve you as NBT bankers.
NBT will retain the Salisbury Bank routing number to make your transition smoother. Continue to use your existing supply of Salisbury Bank checks for your checking, money market and home equity line of credit accounts. If you order your checks through a vendor other than the bank, you will need to change the bank name to NBT Bank.
There will be no changes to your current deposit and loan account numbers.
Yes, direct deposits of a payroll, government, other preauthorized payment, or any other direct deposit into your account will continue without interruption.
It is NBT Bank’s policy to make funds from your deposits available to you as quickly as possible to you according to our Funds Availability Policy. For more information on determining the availability of a deposit, same-day and next-day availability of a deposit, and longer delays that could occur when making a deposit, please refer to page 25 in our Account Information Guide for the Personal Funds Availability Policy, and page 46 of the Account Information Guide for the Business Funds Availability Policy.
While NBT Bank does not post transactions in “real-time” as they occur, transactions performed in the branch, through the ATM or through Digital Banking will memo-post to your account. This means that certain transactions including cash deposits, transfers between internal accounts, and withdrawals will impact the amount of funds available for your immediate use.
If you have authorized Salisbury Bank to perform an automatic transfer from your Salisbury Bank Checking or Savings account to another Checking or Savings account at Salisbury Bank or another financial institution and your automatic transfer date lands on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the transfer will occur on the preceding business day.
All Salisbury Bank checking and savings customers will receive a final statement produced on the last business day prior to the merger, which will reflect transactions processed through that day. Interest will also be posted to interest-bearing checking and savings accounts on that day. Following the merger, any interest earned on your account will be paid on the date your NBT Bank statement is produced.
Your first NBT Bank statement will be produced on a schedule the same as you receive at Salisbury Bank.
- Savings statements will continue to be produced on a quarterly basis, unless you have a monthly combined statement.
- Consumer and Business accounts will continue to be produced at the end of the month.
Images of cancelled checks will continue to be provided to checking customers currently receiving them. NBT Bank does not offer image statements for money market deposit accounts. If you currently receive images with your Salisbury Bank money market statement, this service will not continue following the merger.
Yes, at NBT Bank, we will combine many of your banking products on a combined statement if these products are associated with the same account name(s), name order, address and social security number(s). You will continue to receive separate statements for all products that do not meet these criteria. After the merger, you may contact NBT about adding other accounts to your combined statement.
You will be receiving your NBT Bank account notice(s) by mail.
Yes, you will receive a new NBT Bank VISA® Debit Card. See details in the Account Information Guide and watch your mail for your new debit card with additional details and information.

We will send specific communications about the exact date in which your Salisbury Bank Mastercard® Debit Card will be deactivated.

- Consumer NBT Bank VISA® Debit Card will have new daily transaction limits as follows:
- A dollar limit of $1,500 in Pin-based transactions per card.
- A dollar limit of $10,000 in non-Pin-based transactions per card, which requires a credit selection option.
- A dollar limit of $1,010 in ATM transactions per card.
- Business NBT Bank VISA® Debit Card will have new daily transactions limits as follows:
- A dollar limit of $1,000 in Pin-based transactions per card.
- A dollar limit of $5,000 in non-Pin based transactions per card which requires a credit selection option.
- A dollar limit of $1,010 in ATM transactions per card. Please note that point of sale transactions have different limits when using a PIN and not using a PIN.
Please safely discard your Salisbury Bank Mastercard® Debit Card and update your recurring debit card payments to your new NBT Bank VISA® Debit Card (Eg., streaming services, car insurance, utility bills)
Enroll your NBT Bank VISA® Debit Card in Digital Wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay). Remove your Salisbury Bank Debit Mastercard® from your Digital Wallet.
NBT card controls are located directly within your Digital Banking to lock and unlock your card, set spending limits for every transaction, enable or disable your card to be used within certain merchant categories, restrict transactions to certain areas using your phone’s GPS.
When unusual activity on your debit card is detected, the SMS Fraud Alert feature will initiate a Text Alert to the mobile phone on record for the account. Respond by text to either approve the transaction or to indicate the transactions is fraudulent. We will also have options to contact you by phone call or email.
Check images will be loaded over the next several weeks. If you click on “Check Image” and yours is not yet available, please contact our customer support center for a copy of your check image. 1.800.NBT.BANK (628.2265) weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (EST) or Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon or visit your local branch office.
Personal Digital Banking customers can select LOGIN on the top, right section of this webpage, select NBT Digital Banking, then LOGIN NOW.
Then:
- Enter your existing Salisbury Bank username and Salisbury Bank password.
- Enter and verify the following information:
- First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Zip Code, Email address, Last four digits of your Social Security number.
- You will receive a One-Time Pin for Security.
- Select and enter a new password to use for your NBT Digital Banking Service.
Download the NBT Bank Mobile App from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and sign into our NBT Mobile Banking application.
Yes. You can set up and receive critical account alerts for when account balances are low, checks clear, loan payments are due, and more (Alert set-up found in NBT Digital Banking, Accounts, Profile, Alerts.)
Bill Payments will be converted from Salisbury Bank to NBT Digital Banking.
You will need to recreate internal and external account transfers through Digital Banking after the merger. This includes: Recurring and future-dated external account to account transfers and recurring and future dated internal account to account transfers.
The following limits apply to the personal External Account Transfer Service:
- Daily external transfer limits: $2,000 per customer.
- Monthly external transfer limits: $5,000 per customer.
- Mobile Deposit limit for personal customers is $5,000 daily.
- Mobile Deposit limit for business customers is $20,000 daily.
Salisbury Bank utilizes Pop Money to send and receive money. NBT Bank uses Zelle person to person payments to send and request money. Enroll in Zelle on NBT Digital Banking to send and receive money with friends, family and others you trust.

Recurring bill payments through Salisbury Bank’s e-pay service or electronic transfers auto-deducted from your account that were established through Salisbury Bank will continue uninterrupted.
Post-merger, incoming domestic wires should be directed to NBT Bank using routing # 021303618. Provide the originator with your information as Beneficiary to include: the name of your account as it appears on bank records, your address, and your account number.
For incoming foreign wires only, please provide the new wire instructions outlined below to any wire originator that will be sending you a foreign wire post-merger. These instructions pertain to incoming foreign wires that are sent in US dollars or foreign currency. NBT is published in the SWIFT directory under code NBTNUS31.
