• Q. What is NBT Online Banker?

    NBT Online Banker is our Internet banking service. It provides you with convenient access to your accounts 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows you to view account information, history, and statements. The service also gives you the ability to transfer funds between your NBT Bank accounts and pay bills. In addition, it provides an easy way to communicate with the bank to re-order checks, set up a direct deposit, purchase savings bonds, order a stop payment, or e-mail your questions to the bank.

  • Q. What address do I use to get to NBT Online Banker?

    The address for the NBT Online Banker system is www.nbtbank.com.

  • Q. What are the Personal Computer system requirements to use NBT Online Banker?

    You must have Internet access and a web browser with 128-bit encryption is required. We support all major browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.

  • Q. Is NBT Online Banker safe and secure?

    A.
    NBT Online Banker operates using a combination of industry-approved security technologies to protect data for the bank and for you, our customer. It features password-controlled system entry, a VeriSign-issued Digital ID for the bank's server, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol for data encryption, and a router loaded with a firewall to regulate the inflow and outflow of server traffic.

  • Q. How do I enroll in NBT Online Banker?

    A.
    To enroll, you must have an active NBT Bank checking account. If you do not have a checking account, please visit an NBT Bank office. Our representatives will be happy to help you open a new account.

    If you have an NBT Bank checking account, you can click on the "Enroll Now" button.

    If you would prefer to take a tour before requesting an enrollment form, click the "Test Drive" button for a demonstration of the service.

  • Q. Is there a monthly charge for NBT Online Banker?

    You can sign up for Account Access Only or Account Access with Bill Payment. Account Access Only is free. Account Access with Bill Payment is available for $4.50 per month.

  • Q. What is "Bill Payment?"

    A.
    If you select Account Access with Bill Payment, you will be able to make payments to specific payees electronically just as you would by handwriting a check from your checkbook. When a bill payment is initiated using the service, your account is debited for the amount stated on the date that you specify. Payments are made electronically or by check depending on the capabilities of the payee. You can make one-time payments or set up recurring payments.

  • Q. How long does it take for payees to receive payment when using NBT Online Banker?

    If your payee will accept an electronic payment, payment will be paid within 2-3 business days of posting to your account. If your payee does not accept electronic payments, a check will be generated. Your payee will receive the payment five to eight days from the specified payment date.

  • Q. How do I set up my bill payments?

    A.
    Select the "Pay Bills" option at the top of the NBT Online Banker screen. A message will appear indicating that you have not yet set up your Bill Pay account. Please read the important reminder and then click the button below. You will then be able to set up your bill payments

    While in the "Pay Bills" section of NBT Online Banker, follow the prompts to select the first letter of the payee you want to pay. If your payee is available on the pre-determined list, simply select the payee. For payees not on the pre-determined list, you will need to provide the following information:

    • Name of the Payee
    • Amount of your payment
    • Mailing address of the payee
    • City, state and zip
    • Your account number with the payee
    • Whether or not the payment is recurring
    • NBT Bank account from which the funds are to be withdrawn*

    * Please note that Money Market Deposit accounts are excluded from this function.

    Once you have provided this information, you can save it for future payments by clicking the "Add this Account" button.

    When you have finished paying your bills, press the "submit" button and a posting screen will appear detailing the bill payments you have requested.

  • Q. How can I cancel a bill payment that I submitted?

    A.
    You can cancel any bill payment before it is posted to your account. Posting to accounts will take place at 4:00 PM on normal business days. To cancel a payment before it is posted, type the ID number and click the "Cancel Payment" button. To cancel or modify a recurring payment, click the "Modify Payees" button.

  • Q. What is the cut-off time for transaction processing?

    All transactions submitted after 4:00 PM will be posted to your account on the next business day.

  • Q. How far back does my account history display?

    A.
    Account history will show on the system for 95 days back from the current date. Your account history will begin building on the day your Internet banking account is activated. A complete history will be available after 95 days.

  • Q. What happens if I forget my password?

    A. NBT Online Banker will allow you three attempts to input your password each time you sign on. If you forget your password, you can click the "Forgot Your Password" link to have a temporary, one-time password sent to the e-mail address on record for your Login ID. This link can be found on the "Confirm Your Passmark, Phrase and Password" screen in NBT Online Banker. You can also call 1-800-628-2265 for a new password.

  • Q. How do I change my password?

    A.
    Simply go to the NBT Online Banker sign-on screen and enter your current Login ID and password. Click the box "Do you want to change your password?" You will be prompted to enter your new password and asked to verify the new password. Once you have completed this process, your new password will be active.

  • Q. Can I download my account history into Microsoft Money or Quicken?

    A. Yes, we currently support export to all versions of Microsoft Money and Quicken version 2004 and older.

    To download account history into Microsoft Money or Quicken, simply click the "History" tab at the top of your NBT Online Banker screen. Next, click on "Export History", select the start and end date of the history records and the software version you are using. Click the "Submit" button to transfer the information.

  • Q. Can I change my Login ID?

    A. Yes. Your Login ID can be changed at your request. You would need to fill out an enrollment form with the newly requested Login ID written on the form. This is processed as a new password request. Your old Login ID will be canceled and the new Login ID added. You will receive a letter from NBT Bank confirming your new password. Please note that all account history associated with the previous Login ID would no longer be accessible. Also, if you use Bill Payment, this information would need to be reentered.
