NBT BANK FEATURES ARTIST ROBERT IEVERS

Robert IeversNORWICH, N.Y. (JULY 2, 2008) – NBT Bank’s Wall of Art is currently featuring the artwork of Robert Ievers at the bank’s Norwich Office on South Broad Street. His work will be on display until late August.

Ievers specializes in realistic landscapes, especially those from the Southern Tier. His displayed paintings include scenes from the Elmira area, the Finger Lakes region and North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

For its Wall of Art, NBT Bank is partnering with the Chenango County Council of the Arts to highlight the creativity of area residents. Council Executive Director Victoria Kappel said: “We thought this would be a great showcase for Robert’s evocative paintings, many of which feature small-town and rural scenes.”

Largely self-taught, Ievers has been painting steadily for about 20 years. His award-winning work has been included in numerous exhibitions, including Norwich’s “The Cow Show.” A resident of Horseheads and native of New York City, he is a software development project manager for the Social Security Administration in Elmira.

“We live in a beautiful part of the world,” Ievers said. “Because we see it every day, that beauty becomes commonplace and, at times, invisible. My goal is to capture a scene that may be familiar to those in the area, but since it’s at a unique moment in time, they’re actually seeing it for the first time.”

NBT Bank provides personal banking, asset management and business services. The independent community bank, headquartered in Norwich, N.Y., has 84 offices in 20 upstate New York counties. NBT Bank’s parent company, NBT Bancorp Inc., had assets of $5.2 billion as of March 31, 2008.
