NBT Bank Hires Provost as Branch Manager of New Essex Office

NORWICH, N.Y. (September 30, 2011) – NBT Bank Vermont Regional President Matthew Durkee announced that Robert Provost has been hired as assistant vice president and branch manager of the bank’s new Essex Office.

The new office, located at 2 Commonwealth Avenue, at the intersection of Route 15 and Old Stage Road, is scheduled to open October 5 and is NBT Bank’s third office opened since entering Vermont in 2009. As branch manager, Provost will be responsible for branch sales, customer service and operations.

Provost has 38 years of financial services experience. Before joining NBT Bank he was branch manager at the South Burlington Office of Key Bank. During his tenure at that bank, he held various positions such as area manager and regional manager. Prior to joining Key Bank, he held management positions with its predecessors Burlington Savings, Bank of Vermont and Bank of Boston.

“NBT Bank is proud to welcome Robert Provost as branch manager in our new Essex Office,” Durkee said. “His background in bank management makes him an excellent resource for our customers and staff as we expand our presence into the Essex community.”

A resident of Essex Junction, he holds an associate’s degree in Bank Management from the New England School of Banking at Williams College and has completed professional development courses through the American Institute of Banking and the National Endowment for Financial Education. Provost also holds Series 7, 66 and Health and Insurance licenses.

NBT Bank provides personal banking, asset management and business services. The independent community bank, based in Norwich, N.Y., has a total of 87 offices in upstate New York and Vermont. NBT Bank’s parent company, NBT Bancorp Inc., had assets of $5.3 billion as of June 30, 2011.
