NORWICH, N.Y. (August 15, 2011) – NBT Bank Mohawk Valley Regional Executive Dennis Surace announced that James A. O’Connor has been hired as vice president and commercial banking relationship manager.In this position, O’Connor is responsible for developing and managing business relationships with the bank’s commercial customers throughout the region. He reports to Regional Commercial Banking Manager John Buffa. O’Connor has 25 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining NBT Bank, O’Connor was employed by HSBC as a senior business relationship manager. He previously served as commercial loan officer for Alliance Bank; regional leasing manager and syndication buyer for Alliance Leasing Division, Inc.; district sales manager for HSBC Equipment Finance Division and held credit underwriting and sales positions at General Electric Capital Corporation Equipment Finance Division. “Jim is an integral addition to our team,” Buffa said. “His diverse experience and knowledge in financial services will be an asset to our commercial customers in the Mohawk Valley.” O’Connor earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to relocating to Clay from Rochester, he was active in his community serving with the Rochester Area Interfaith Homeless Network, St. Bridgett Homeless Shelter, United Way of Rochester and Big Brother Big Sister of Wayne County.
