NORWICH, N.Y. (September 25, 2013) – NBT Bank’s Wall of Art is featuring the artwork of Scott Higby at the bank’s Norwich Office on South Broad Street. His work will be on display through October. The pieces Higby selected for this exhibit were largely done in a representational style and focus on people in the quiet and contemplative moments of their life. “Over the past several years, I have been dabbling in fantasy and surrealist art,” he said. “Surrealism allows me to express my creativity to enter realms of fantasy, yet still maintain my interest in working in a representational style.” He works mostly in oils because of the medium’s bold, visceral qualities and slow drying time which allow him to blend the paint to achieve his desired result. For its Wall of Art, NBT Bank is partnering with the Chenango Arts Council to highlight the creativity of area residents. Council Executive Director Victoria Kappel said: “Scott’s skillful use of oils and depiction of his subjects provides viewers the opportunity step back and for a few quiet moments ponder the events and mysteries in our world.” NBT Bank offers personal banking, asset management and business services through a network of over 155 banking locations in five states.
