• Masquerading Website Alert
  It has been brought to our attention from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) that there are malicious attempts to redirect consumers to an illegitimate website.
• Phishing Alert - Wire Transfer Canceled
  NBT Bank has been advised of a spam email that is circulating heavily nationwide, through e-mail accounts. The e-mail subject line "Your Wire Transfer Canceled" allegedly from the Federal Reserve. The email alerts you that your Wire Transactions have an issue, asking customers to follow a link to correct the issue and view the details.
• Phishing Alert - Spam e-mail allegedly from FDIC
  NBT Bank has been advised of a spam email that is circulating heavily nationwide, through e-mail accounts.
• Uniform Traffic Ticket E-mail Phishing Alert
  NBT Bank has been advised that the New York State Police Computer Crime Unit has initiated an investigation into the release of a spam email that is circulating heavily nationwide, primarily through Yahoo e-mail accounts.
• NACHA Phishing E-mail Alert
  At this time we want to educate our Business Online Banker users of a potential e-mail claiming to be from the “Electronic Payments Association. NACHA – The Electronic Payments Association has received reports that individuals and/or companies have received a fraudulent email that have the appearance of having been sent from NACHA and signed by a non-existent NACHA employee.
• Unauthorized Wire Transfers
  At this time we want to educate our Business Online Banker users of a warning from the FBI to all small- and medium-sized businesses of an observed trend in which cyber criminals are sending unauthorized wire transfers to Chinese economic and trade companies located near the Russian border.
• Fraudulent SSL Certificates
  NBT Bank has been made aware of public reports of the existence of fraudulent (fake) SSL certificates. SSL certificates or Secure Socket Layer protocol ensure that secure web transactions between websites and web browsers take place.
• Phising E-mail Alert for Online Banker for Business Customers
  At this time we want to educate our Business Online Banker users of a potential e-mail claiming to be from the “Electronic Payments Association.
• Critical Update for Microsoft Users
  NBT Bank makes every effort to ensure that our customers’ information is protected. At this time we want to advise our customers of a critical Microsoft Update that is available to any Microsoft user.
• Zeus Botnet Targets Holiday Shoppers
  As holiday shoppers take advantage of the convenience of online shopping, a Zeus botnet is targeting credit-card account holders who shop several major US retailers including Macys and Nordstrom.
• Holiday Season Phishing Scams, Malware or Virus Campaigns Advisory
  NBT Bank has been advised of an increased number of phishing scams and malware or virus campaigns that take advantage of the winter holiday and holiday shopping season. NBT Bank reminds customers to remain cautious when receiving unsolicited email messages that could be part of a potential phishing scams, malware or virus campaign.
